The
Wisconsin
Marriage Ban Battle: Pro & Con
Statewide - Over the last
ten months of 2006, easily a million words or more have been written
about the
proposed amendment to the Wisconsin constitution pending defining
marriage as between "one man and one woman" and setting in place an
impediment for any unmarried couple,

regardless of its composition, for
receiving any legal recognition whatsoever. As the November 7
referendum looms ever larger, the torrent of opinion pieces, columns,
letters to the editor and press releases has reached tsumani level.
Despite the hue and cry from activists pro and con, a
significant number of likely voters remain only peripherally aware of
the issue. Trying to find a source that offers connections to the wide
variety of opinions and arguments, even with search engines like Google
or Yahoo! can be daunting. While
Fair Wisconsin,
and - to a lesser extent - its pro-amendment counterpart
Vote "Yes For Marriage
have laid out their thoughts and views on the issue, they remain
one-sided resources.
Quest has been
following the amendment issue for more than two years. All
Quest
stories on the amendment issue - and every issue has had at least one
entry - can be read in chronological order by accessing our
Archives page. You may also wish to
access relevant stories by using the customized Google search bar on
Quest's main page.
Through November 7,
Quest
will attempt to offer on this
single page a set of links to the numerous opinions that have been
offered by
editors, individual citizens, bloggers and others on both sides of the
issue. This compendium will try to seek balance and offer those seeking
a source for all the opinions on the issue a "one-stop" resource.
Like the ongoing information flood, this compendium will be a
"work in progress" through November 7. If you are aware of an
opinion you feel belongs on this site but has been missed, please feel
to contact
Quest - either by
